With a focus on new beginnings, some top emerging comedians showcase their skills at the newest Stand Spotlight
The North East comedy scene has been a strong one of late, with a raft of talented new comics so often supported by The Stand, the platform provided through their immensely fun and always jam-packed Red Raw nights were gloriously added to with the new addition of the Stand Spotlight shows. The next of which takes place on Monday 3rd April, and focuses on the theme of ‘new beginnings’.
The theme is important, as each of the acts focuses their set on this specific topic. It also ties in with the charity who’ll benefit from ticket sales for this show, which will all be donated to Tyne Housing Association Ltd, a local project that provides Byker Bridge House emergency hostel and the Joseph Cowen Healthcare Centre and Workshop to help people experiencing homelessness get back on their feet. With a wealth of talent on show too, seeing how comic character Stanley Brooks, sharp storyteller Julie Grady Thomas, talented newcomer Kevin Carr, the smart writing of Neil Harris, one-liner comic Julian Lee, the engaging Izzy Moulder and majestically silly host Sean Turner tackle the subject will be fun. There really aren’t many more enjoyable ways to donate a fiver to such a worthy cause and get to see some of the comedy circuit’s best up-and-coming acts in the process.
Stand Spotlight – New Beginnings is at The Stand, Newcastle on Monday 3rd April.
