As the winter months give way to spring, there’s a feeling of renewal in the air, warmer days and lighter nights mean more adventures are undertaken. So exhibitions like those The Biscuit Factory has lined up from Thursday 3rd March are fantastic; leading us right through until the summer months.

More than 200 artists contribute to an eclectic mix of contemporary art, craft and design work. Headlining this season is contemporary painter Richard Twose with his new solo exhibition Hypnos. Interiors and portraiture are the two key themes explored for the artist who had a residency last autumn at the Royal College of Art and second prize in the 2014 international BP Portrait Award.

Other highlights include LOOP; 16 leading contemporary jewellers showcase some spectacular rings. Colourful ceramic animals; and manipulated abstract portraits are just some of what’s on offer. While following on from her amazing success with Craft Scotland during their winter exhibition; Beth Lamont’s hand crafted ceramic necklaces will be available too. There’s also a debut for a new capsule collection of miniatures from embroidery artist Ness Donnelly.

With so much to take in, and a launch event on Friday 4th March, it’s a chance to get spring started with a real artistic bang.

The Biscuit Factory, Newcastle hosts its spring exhibition runs from Thursday 3rd March until Thursday 7th July.
