Reliably informed

Pop Recs are really spoiling us for gigs at the minute. Since hosting Elk a few weeks ago, they’ve brought down Little Comets and The Charlatans and are preparing to welcome Manchester’s Dutch Uncles at the beginning of March. Plugging the very small void between the two are Bristolian four-piece Spectres, who are probably planning to fill the gap with more noise than it can possibly hold.

If guitars aren’t dead, it’s probably because Spectres haven’t killed them yet. Killed them with fuzzy reverb love and thrashing, that is. Psych is a term that gets lobbed around a lot these days but the Bristol lads take the ear-bleeding sonics of My Bloody Valentine and add an experimental squall that’s well and truly, well, psychedelic. Not for the faint hearted by any means, but well worth checking out for anyone looking for a tonic to the slew of slightly wishy-washy indie-psych groups around these days.

Spectres play at Pop Recs Ltd, Sunderland on Wednesday 25th February.
