SPECTOR will be getting up close and personal with North East fans later this month after announcing two intimate performances in the region. The indie four-piece will deliver an in-store performance and signing at both Newcastle’s Reflex and Stockton’s Sound It Out on Tuesday 25th August. The band will play Reflex at 1pm, prior to jaunting down the A1 for their second set and signing session of the day in Teesside at 5pm. Fans can expect a showcasing of material from the London-based outfit’s second album Moth Boys, released via Fiction Records on Friday 21st August. Ever since the release of Dev Hynes-produced comeback single ‘Don’t Make Me Try’ back in December, fans have been anticipating the new record and are sure to be pleased by the band’s latest effort. This time round, we find Spector – and frontman Fred Macpherson – with a rather more sombre and philosophical disposition. The new material isn’t inevitably melancholy though; the singalong choruses and infectious hooks that made their 2012 debut Enjoy It While It Lasts a triumph are still there, albeit with a more distinguished focus. As new single ‘Stay High’ demonstrates, this isn’t a band losing their anthemic (and pop-tinged) sound, but instead a band reflecting, evolving and, perhaps most crucially, demonstrating that behind the synths and indie riffs is a serious beating heart.

As part of a UK tour in the autumn, Spector will also take to the stage at The Cluny on Sunday 18th October with support coming from Mancunian post-punks Spring King.

SPECTOR play at Reflex, Newcastle and Sound It Out Records, Stockton on Tuesday 25th August.
