A British TV staple, The Hairy Bikers’ Si King will be driving into Sunderland to present the Souled Out summer festival, taking place as part of the wider Soul Food & Music Festival. With a huge emphasis on music and food, the festival is to take over Keel Square and Plot 12 from Friday 10th-Sunday 12th June.

Live music will feature at Plot 12, on the old Vaux site, where the emphasis will be on the sounds of the 50s, 60s and 70s, featuring bands such as Voices of Virtue, The King Cush Band and Groove Train, with the big headliner of the weekend being Smoove & Turrell. These North East legends are known for their funk and neo-soul inspired tunes, making them the perfect band to have a bit of a dance to after stuffing yourself with the array of street food on offer.

Selected by Si King himself, both Plot 12 and Keel Square will feature vendors that’ll tingle your taste buds, including Nan Bei Dumpling & Tea Bar, Scream For Pizza, One Dining and Dosa Kitchen.

If music and food wasn’t good enough for you, there’ll also be events such as silent Zumba, a Kid’s Club, sporting activities and cooking tutorials. The event is ticket based but will help bring more life to Sunderland’s constantly growing and developing Vaux site, so tuck in!
