We bring you news of a new release, as Son Palace drops a new album into the world on Friday 12th October through their Bandcamp page here.
Son Palace is made up of Cumbrian musician Geoff Cooke and visual artist Chris Hughes. This new recording is Son Palace’s second, with the atmospheric, tender, twinkling instrumental tracks completely beguiling in the way they evoke real feeling in the listener. Cooke’s internalised and reductive way of working has lead to some really beautifully minimal tracks that reflect the house in which they were recorded which also homed an array of old books, various analogue 4-track recorders, numerous customised fender jazzmasters, kids xylophones and libraries of outmoded mini discs – sometimes all shoved together in same chaotic boxes.
The new release is a captivating listen, and one you’ll want to go out your way too, as the music is the sort of inventive simplicity that will soundtrack your every thought, and is a reflective release that is a real understated work of art.
