The world of dance music, like other genres and scenes within the music industry, has become heavily male-dominated and in need of reform. Thankfully, there are organisations out the like Sisu, an artistic community providing a platform for female-identifying artists in electronic music, trying to put things right. Their DJ course is designed to teach all the skills needed to be a master of the decks through small, hands-on sessions, which has seen former participants perform at Fabric London, host their own event and become tutors on the course themselves!

There are classes for beginners that cover basic electronic music theory, beat matching cueing a track and lots more. Then, for those who have a bit more experience on the wheels of steel, there is an intermediate course which goes into more depth with what has been covered in the beginner classes, as well as looking at equalisation, audio quality, looping and a whole lot more. Equipment is provided and lessons will be tailored to suit your needs.

So if you identify as female, are over 16 and want to bring dance music to the world, then get down to World Headquarters from 7th-8th October for beginners and 9th-10th October for the intermediate course, with the option of doing both for a discounted rate. To book your place, visit the World Headquarters website.
