Up and coming grass roots musicians are the lifeblood of any scene. Artists doing it for the love of making music, inspiring audiences of various sizes with impassioned live performances and feeding the industry with stars of tomorrow. Despite their importance, the local stuff can be viewed as being less glamorous than their mainstream/nationally touring counterparts, so it is nice to see KU Bar in Stockton making such a song and dance about their regular local music showcase night called… erm… Showcase.

Headlining the second in the series on Friday 21st June is Newcastle’s alt-rockers, A Festival, A Parade who are fresh from performing with Sam Fender on his tour. Their dark, atmospheric brand of music complete with brooding intensity and baritone vocals have earned them rave reviews aplenty in the national music press.

Joining them is dream-pop tainted indie-rockers, Neon Waves who have building hype with stand out performances at Stockton Calling and Music Box Festival. Their hooks and big choruses will appeal to fans of bands like Circa Waves and Vant. Hartlepool’s METHODICAL BEAST bring their big melody filled soundscapes on the back of their latest single release, Daylight and last but not least are psych tinged rock ‘n’ rockers Uncle Dudeman.

That’s four artists for a fiver, which is an absolute bargain when you think it will probably cost eight times that amount when they’re playing stadiums in the future. Shop smart, invest in the future and show your support at Showcase #002.
