With the General Election just days away, Secret Cinema has announced a special screening of Ken Loach’s inspiring and immensely hearbreaking film I, Daniel Blake to serve as a reminder of some of the major issues that we’ll all be basing our voting decisions on.

The screening is Secret Cinema’s first in Newcastle, and the home of where the film was shot. The winner of last year’s Palme d’Or at The Cannes Film Festival earned many rave reviews, including from us, which you can read here. With other special screenings taking place in London, this film is screened through Secret Cinema’s Secret Youth Initiative which seeks to empower young people through arts and culture, with tickets for 16 to 25 year olds available for only £3.50 (+booking) and free for job seekers.

This important film tackles some of the most important social issues that hang over this election like a cloud; welfare, poverty and the use of the food banks, and with poetry, spoken word and more to compliment it, this is a fantastic way to engage with those.

For more information and to buy Tickets for I, Daniel Blake, visit:  with the screening taking place tonight at 7pm.
