An innovative display of works from some of our finest young creatives
We can probably be accused of saying this a bit too much but when it comes to young talent, the north east has it in abundance. This time, though, we’re not just talking about some of the emerging musicians from the region but taking a look at how our brightest young minds are shaping interactive technology, new media and art in general. This intriguing one-off event will be presenting work by a host of Culture Lab students on the one-year Creative Arts Practice MA course, including Barti De Sena E Souza, Meteor Liang, Clive Wright, Tan Zou and Edmund Nesveda.
Coming from a variety of different backgrounds, Scratching the Surface will see artists, designers and musicians will be exploring new media practices to challenge the role of electronic arts, disrupting the relationships between works of art, the audience and interactivity. Comprising of interactive audio-visual installations, live hacked CCTV, performances and containing a variety of objects that you can interact with to your heart’s content, the creatives with work on display on the night have all created unique and compelling insights into the topic at hand. Scratching the Surface may only presenting a small segment both of what these young creatives have to offer, but you can guarantee you’ll be hearing more from them in the very near future.
Scratching the Surface comes to the Culture Lab, Newcastle on Monday 21st September.
