Many Christmas traditions are having to fall by the wayside this year, but the good folks at Sage Gateshead couldn’t let the season pass without providing a good old knees-up for music lovers. Their Christmas Cracker concert will be streamed via their YouTube channel on Friday 18th December, and the line-up is pretty special.
Heading up proceedings is one of the region’s real rising stars, Sam Fender, who will perform alongside Royal Northern Sinfonia in what promises to be a stunning show. Also performing is alt. pop musician Martha Hill, who collaborates with jazz pianist Paul Edis for a big band style show; BBC Radio 2 Folk Award-winning Teesside trio The Young’Uns; Voices of Virtue Gospel Choir and Chorus of Royal Northern Sinfonia.
The event will be hosted by award-winning saxophonist Jess Gillam and The Futureheads’ Ross Millard, with all performances filmed in the iconic venue.
Abigail Pogson, Managing Director of Sage Gateshead said: “Sage Gateshead Christmas Cracker is a celebration of music and musicians from the North. We want to showcase amazing musical talent and offer a fun-filled Christmas event to the North East – it’s a way for Sage Gateshead to say a special thank you to everyone who has supported us this year. We’re so grateful for the support we have had and want to say thank you with this magical online event.”
