The blues-rock heavyweights come in support of their stellar LP Great Western Valkyrie
Following a flurry of phenomenal live performances, including a slot at the Classic Rock Roll of Honour awards in LA last month, Californian rockers Rival Sons play Newcastle’s O2 Academy on Monday 15th December.
This is one of the final dates on their month-long European tour – the band has been working relentlessly since forming in 2009, constantly either touring or recording. And while they’re yet to properly “break big,” it’s surely only a matter of time. They’ve been exposing themselves (in a nice way) over the last couple of months, with stonking appearances on the Late Show with David Letterman, not to mention Later… with Jools Holland on our side of the pond, making them known to the masses even further afield. Stylistically inspired by blues-rock bands from the 1950s-70s, perhaps most prominently Led Zeppelin, they’re certainly on to a winner. They’ve already released four consistently brilliant albums, the latest of which, Great Western Valkyrie, stormed the charts around the world upon its release in June.
Accompanied by strong support from Jamieson and Blue Pills, this is your chance to catch one of the most unmissable additions to the swelling ranks of ’70s revivalist acts; fans of soulful hard rock and interesting facial hair are in for a treat.
