Reliably informed

If you’ve noticed the name Wandering Oak prop up with great regularity in recent issues of NARC., there’s a reason for that: right now, they’re bringing some of the newest and most thrilling names in psychedelia and garage rock (alongside a handful of genuine icons) to Newcastle, and October proves no different.

On Thursday 26th October, Wandering Oak play host to the fantastic Italian neo-shoegazers Rev Rev Rev at The Cluny 2. Having played with acts like The Jesus & Mary Chain and The Brian Jonestown Massacre, their second album Des Fleurs Magiques Bourdonnaient finds the band pushing their floral songwriting style to breaking point with all manner of drone freakouts and white noise washes to illuminate their melodic revelry.

Alongside them on the night is a rare but very welcome appearance from local dream pop maestros Nano Kino, whose most recent EP Surfing On The Void was a hypnotic and heart-warming treat – an ideal opener, quite simply.

If that’s still not enough of a reverb fix for you, Wandering Oak are also promoting a special Halloween night blow-out at Little Buildings, featuring performances from abrasive Portuguese rockers 10,000 Russos, alongside the sludge-surf of Cheap Lunch and the slow-burning psych of London duo Black Doldrums.
