Reliably informed

Last time I encountered a rebel rose I was three years old, it was a hot Summer’s day and I was running naked through my gran’s sprinklers on her well-maintained lawn. It had broke free from its brothers and sisters in the bush and was protruding into the area where I was playing and let’s just say I had a scratchy run-in with its thorns.

Anyway, painful childhood memories to one side, Rebel Rose the brand new, Newcastle-based record label looks a much lovelier prospect. Offering services such as management, PR and artist development, it utilises the passion and expertise of those who work within the organisation to help the music scene blossom (sorry).

The official label launch takes place at Head Of Steam, Newcastle on Friday 25th October (doors 7pm) and features four of the best blooming acts that have been lovingly hand-picked by the label (I promise the flower puns will stop from here on in). Performing are majestically melodic Anthony Vacher, fresh from his Main Stage performance at Lindisfarne Festival, ambient indie artist LIO making her Newcastle debut, London alt-pop duo Blu:m and opening proceedings are South Shields singer-songwriter ALEY V.

Tickets are £5 ADV and available here:
