Newcastle-based rapper Reali-T and Teesside producer Naughty40, best known for his work as one third of now defunct hip-hop collective Gang:Greenz, have been teasing a collaborative EP ever since Don’t Chat became a fan favourite in 2017. Taken from Reali-T’s breakout album Stay Tuned, Don’t Chat was produced by Naughty40 and earned critical acclaim last year. The duo are finally making good on their word as they launch Still Tuned? at Gateshead’s Arch Sixteen Café on Friday 11th May.

The EP witnesses an evolution in Reali-T’s lyricism; he’s always been known for witty punchlines, but Still Tuned? features the rapper’s best use of double entendres to date. Naughty40’s production brings out the best of T’s delivery too, the range of beat styles showcasing Reali-T’s versatility.

Still Tuned?’s production is like a time machine. Naughty40 has sculpted a soundscape which simulates going back through the different classic sounds of hip-hop. Starting off with modern instrumentals before rewinding through eras of hip-hop, and finishing up with mid-90’s inspired soulful boom bap on stand-out track Biggest Fan.

The six track EP produced exclusively by Naughty40 also features the Teessider’s vocals on Red Light Running. Both Reali-T and Naughty40 have been earmarked as two of the best hook-makers within North East hip-hop and Still Tuned? easily cements that.
