Do you remember the good old days? When metal bands weren’t too cool to thrash their cojones off? When lead singers wore tight leather strides to ensure they could hit artificially hit the high notes? When the tao of widdly-widdly guitar solo wasn’t frowned upon?

If so, or even if you don’t, make sure to check out the Finnish metal maelstrom of Ranger as they whirl towards Trillians in Newcastle on Tuesday 30th May. It’s difficult to imagine how incredibly awesome this night is going to be. A night when leather waistcoats aren’t just acceptable, they’re positively encouraged.

Following the well-received release of their album Speed & Violence towards the end of 2016, the band are on a lengthy European tour before undoubtedly going back to Finland to dream up even more Bay Area influenced thrash epics. The title track (along with the rest of the record) is a joyful paean to the staunchest of rock ‘n’ roll motifs and all the better for it. So, if you like your metal to be fast, loud and riff heavy and your preferred lyrical topics are war and evil then Ranger really have got you covered.

Support comes from Lancaster’s purveyors of aggressive speed metal Insurgency and local axe heroes Starborn.
