Extreme metal can be some of the most severe, psychologically taxing art there is. It can also be utterly, stupendously ridiculous. Tilting furiously at the second of these options, Truth Hurts Promotions and Omega Warfare Records have put together an absolute belter of hilarious, horrifying sounds at Little Buildings on Saturday 24th February.

British grindcore merchants Raised By Owls may have their tongue in cheek (check out their album The Great British Grind Off, replete with cuts like Practising Black Magic With Bruce Forsyth, Rot Stewart and David Cameron’s Favourite Band Is Pig Destroyer), but they also deliver a furious, blackened grind assault. Scottish co-headliners Party Cannon have meanwhile gained internet notoriety for their absurdly colourful, Toys R Us-esque logo – a wilfully daft counterbalance to their guttural, grimy take on death metal.

There’s also a plethora of other national and local acts joining in the fun, including Spongebob Squarepants-themed grindcore band Gary, the gorenoise of Carnal Mastication, the brutality of Colpocleisis and the raw riffs of Fed To The Boars. If you want an evening of mayhem, carnage and hilarity – and all for just a fiver at that – then look no further.
