PUG, a night of weird, genre-bending theatre is coming to Newcastle’s Alphabetti Theatre on Friday 15th July. The cost of the event is entirely up to you and with three acts on the bill, so if your bank balance isn’t the best, you can still contribute something to the handful of pieces you get to see. The line-up for PUG #1 includes Re(a/t)ch, You Over There and Raising the Skirt: A Talk.

Re(a/t)ch is a spiritual exploration delving into Charlie Dearnley’s own shifting beliefs. Using hindsight to reflect on previous experiences inspired by actions and events, his spoken word and dance style will question his Christian upbringing.

You Over There is punk rule-breaker Luca Rutherford’s creation. The set is described mysteriously, saying that something will happen – a vague but interestingly secretive way of promoting the event. What we do know is that there will be shouting, dancing and doing things in a way that would be often unorthodox.

The third instalment of the night will be Nicola Hunter and Dawn Felicia Knox refusing to have their and other women’s bodies judged by others. For Raising the Skirt: A Talk, their 2015 workshop of the same title will be shown as an exhibition after the initial three-day workshop was transformed into something more intensive in the North of England.

The event has been organised as part of a quarterly alternative cabaret event by Hannah & Rosa. They provide Newcastle with diverse events that after witnessing, are clearly relatable to every day life. PUG #1 begins at 7:30pm and it is recommended as 18+.

PUG takes place at Alphabetti Theatre, Newcastle on Friday 15th July.
