Relapse Records is the go-to label for horrible, screamy, incredible metal noise with big hitting extreme acts such as The Dillinger Escape Plan and Neurosis on their roster. One of their stable is stopping off at Newcastle’s Northumberland Arms on Wednesday 8th June, so if eardrum bursting depravity is your bag then Inverted Grim Mill have got you covered as US sludgecore monsters Primitive Man return to the region for the second time in as many years.

Touring off the back of their latest split EP they will, in all likelihood, lay waste to your mind, body, soul and city and leave a blackened desolate void in their place. Looking for evidence? Just listen to the opening bars of their most recent release; slow, creeping devastating destruction with vocals that sound like a furious Godzilla looking for his cough medicine in a scrapyard.

Support comes from Brighton’s fantastically monikered Sea Bastard who, once you’ve got over how amazing their name is, are likely to cave your head in with a bludgeoning set of doom while local drone noiseniks Neolithic open the night.

Primitive Man, Sea Bastard and Neolithic play Northumberland Arms, Newcastle on Wednesday 8th June.
