Newcastle’s hotly tipped progressive folk sextet Pons Aelius need your help. The band who have extensively toured all over the UK and in Europe have recently recorded their second album, Fire Under the Bridge and have launched a crowdfunding campaign to help release it. The band describe it a ‘ten track tour-de-force’ featuring powerful jigs and reels to more introspective moments and hope to release it in Autumn 2019.

“Working on Fire Under The Bridge was a hugely positive positive experience – it was an absolute pleasure to work in Bristol’s J&J studios with the fantastic Josh Clark of Get Real Audio (Kate Rusby, Midnight Skyracer, Damien O’Kane & Ron Block). We were able to record the album live which has allowed us to capture the excitement of a live performance whilst also taking advantage of the opportunities afforded by being in the studio.” says guitarist Alasdair Paul.

The band’s Indiegogo campaign offers a range of perks, such as signed CDs, merchandise and house concerts in exchange for contributions to support the album. “The music industry has changed a lot in the past few decades. In the past we’d have had to rely on record labels to fund our releases, but the internet and social media gives music fans the opportunity to directly support their favourite artists, and gives musicians total control over how our music is released”, says bassist Bevan Morris. “We’re asking everyone that’s interested in what we do to help push us in the right direction, whether it’s just sharing the link to our Indiegogo campaign with their friends, or making a generous donation, it all helps! One way to think about it as an opportunity to pre-order the album – in fact, by pre-ordering it you’re speeding the process along, because we get the funds we need to get it pressed and released sooner!”.

The band are looking to raise £3,500 to fund the production and promotion of the CD, but only have until the end of May to make it happen. If you want to show your support then head over to their Indiegogo campaign.
