Darlington Film Club and Noisy Daughters (brought to you by Tracks) are joining forces to bring an exclusive screening of award-winning documentary film Play Your Gender. The Forum Music Centre Darlington hosts the screening on Friday 6th April.

The film centres on musician Kinnie Starr investigating why only 5% of music producers are women, even though many of the most bankable and well known pop stars are female. With insight from Sara Quinn of Tegan & Sara, Melissa Auf der Maur of The Smashing Pumpkins and Hole, Patty Schemel of Hole, Chantal Kreviazuk, and a great deal more of music’s most talented women this is a film that explores a greatly relevant topic.

There’s even a couple of live performances from a two of our region’s most talented musical women, as Heather Story’s singer songwriter style is joined by the looping layers and quirky sounds of Girl From Winter Jargon for a truly special event.

Play Your Gender is at Forum Darlington on Friday 6th April.
