The Oxjam gig season is once more upon us and dedicated organisers in the North East have gone all out this year create bigger and better events which, on Tyneside, spans both sides of the river with venues in Gateshead taking part on Friday 14th October and all over Ouseburn like a rash on Sunday 16th. Down the A1 in Darlington, the music spots of the town are uniting on Sunday 23rd with a bill chock full of local acts.
A network of charitable musical events across the country, Oxjam is now into its tenth year and brings together local music communities to raise money for the important work that Oxfam does around the world. The programme of events is put together and organised entirely by volunteers and the with the goodwill of the artists involved.
While Newcastle’s event features local big hitters Coquin Migale, The Jar Family and Fractions among the over sixty bands taking part, Gateshead includes Slurs and Cave Suns among over sixty bands joining in that weekend. Darlington sees the likes of Velvoir, Twist Helix and Weird Shapes doing their bit.
