Reliably informed

Of all the acts credited with taking electronic music into the live environment and not fucking it up (see also Underworld, The Chemical Brothers, Leftfield), Orbital always pulled it off with the most energy and style – some of their Glastonbury performances are etched in my memory as euphoric, collective moments to cherish forever – and the Hartnoll brothers have a back catalogue filled with tunes that represent everything that’s most powerful about electronic music.

When the brothers decided – for the second time – to work on solo projects a few years back, it always seemed likely they’d pop back up together at some point and so it’s proved; they’ve released some new singles in the last few months, and there’s a new album in September. Saturday 11th August sees them taking over the cavernous Concourse space at Sage Gateshead, and given their propensity for stunning visuals, this is bound to look great.

There’s support from Warp Records legends Plaid and labelmates The Bee, plus local DJs Man Power and Antony Daly from 586 Records. The venue have ensured there’s numerous ticket options, running to private bars and chill out rooms and the like, but I recommend getting on one and getting down the front.
