A sell-out success and one of the most talked about adult shows at the 2015 Edinburgh Fringe? Oh yes! Performer and director Jamie Wood is known for his combination of fine art, theatre, clown performance and dance, ranging from the surreal to the visually poetic. In O No! – which comes to Northern Stage on Tuesday 23rd October – he presents a typically psychedelic homage to the woman who was ultimately blamed for breaking up The Beatles: Yoko Ono.

Whatever you think of Yoko Ono as an artist, musician, activist and wife of John Lennon, Wood is guaranteed to deliver a perspective that you’ve never seen or thought about before. Bringing together each of Wood’s key elements into an electrifying, blistering and vibrant ride, it’s a piece that examines avant-garde art and what we might learn from hippies, married together with often humorous and surprising moments.

It isn’t just bonkers for the sake of being bonkers though, and instead presents its hallucinogenic, off-kilter voyage in a way that sucks you in and presents an often hilarious but also heart-wrenching tale about unbridled positivity. It’ll take you down a rabbit hole but you’ll leave wonderland with a renewed sense of joy and, possibly, a new take on optimism.
