Following a successful debut last year, Northern Electric Festival returns for a second year on Friday 21st and Saturday 22nd July, with an even more ambitious and eclectic line-up than before.

Whilst remaining true to their mission to promote and push electronic and dance music in Newcastle, Friday’s events give a taste of the eclectic, vibrant ethos the team behind Northern Electric Festival operate under. That night, Cluny 2 boasts a superb hip-hop flavoured bill, headlined by Zico MC with support from Kay Greyson, John Dole and electronic super-group Grey Tapes. Later on in town, Cosmic Ballroom plays hosts to a very special two-room party held in collaboration with Backdrop, featuring sets by Carl H, John Rowe, The GBL, the Backdrop residents and more.

Come the Saturday, and it’s a multi-venue bonanza across the Ouseburn. Back in Cluny 2, this month’s cover star Nathalie Stern performs alongside Ochre, Pentecostal Party and Waskerley Way, whilst The Cumberland Arms hosts a packed bill containing Outside Your House, Mausoleums (launching their new EP Into The Gyre at the event), Emergency Librarian, Tunnel Club, Symmatik, Indigo Vertebrae and Crimewave. Tyne Bar Brewery meanwhile hosts Twist Helix (launching their new single Little Buildings) alongside Shamu, Ten Sticks, Tiny Mind, Okeya plus Endless Window DJs, and Cobalt hosts an after-party featuring DJ Slanty, MOVINARD, Xaatu and more.

With tickets ranging from £6-£12 (the latter getting you access to every event), Northern Electric Festival’s second year is a must-attend affair.
