Genres are a nice thing when looking for a record in a music shop or playlists on Spotify, but from a creative point of view, they can be segregating and an obstacle to collaborations that could lead to magnificent musical masterpieces. Timothy Burke, Newcastle based classical composer and conductor and music director of Tête à Tête is looking for musicians from a non-classical background, as well as artists from other disciplines, to take part in an experimental project to do with new opera writing.

On Tuesday 29th October (7-10pm) at Cobalt Studios, the innovative opera company invites North East artists from all areas of the arts for an evening exploring how opera can be an exciting forum for artistic collaboration. The evening will incorporates a ‘Speed-Date’ style element for you to meet other artists, as well as a ‘speed-writing’ element where you can write, rehearse and perform some opera that evening!

So, poets, DJs, playwrights, folk musicians, directors and anyone else, simply fill in this form or RSVP to, then bring your creativity and enthusiasm to Cobalt Studios and get collaborating.
