Four of the nation’s best rising bands play on the showcase tour
The NME Awards Tour is set to hit Newcastle’s O2 Academy once again on Saturday 21st February to celebrate its 20th anniversary with performances from Palma Violets, Fat White Family, The Amazing Snakeheads and Slaves.
NME favourites Palma Violets, having previously played at the 2013 Awards show, will be rocking the stage with tracks old and new (maybe even a few from their forthcoming second album). A self-assured attitude and their on-stage presence proves they’re the perfect act to headline once again on this year’s tour. Joining them will be Fat White Family whose peculiar lyrics (and even more peculiar videos) and a slow beat you find yourself swaying to might be a nice surprise for some.
Glasgow’s The Amazing Snakeheads continue the strong line-up, thanks to some immense vocals provided by lead singer Dale Barclay. Their dark comedy lyrics and throwback-punk rock sound is a perfect combination. The bill is rounded off by duo Slaves, who’ve been nominated for BBC Sound of 2015 and have a lively and out-there sound that’s reflected in their energetic live performances.
