The acclaimed ventriloquist presents her unusual take on a dating show to Newcastle
A ventriloquist comedy show about dating is certainly five words that shouldn’t go together, but this is exactly what Nina Conti’s new show is about, which brings the strangeness to Newcastle’s Tyne Theatre on Saturday 6th November. Conti’s first show in four years will show exactly why she is a winner of the British Comedy Award, with a return to the stage that will be both memorable and hilarious.
The star has had her fair share of TV fame, appearing on Live at the Apollo, QI, Russell Howard’s Good News and Sunday Night at the Palladium. In her 2020 performance for Universal Comedy, Conti’s brutal roast of the audience shows the levels of audience engagement likely to be on display at this show, emphasised when Conti describes the premise of her new show being based on “developing a dating show where I would connive for audience members to fall in love wearing masks.”
It’s Netflix’s Love is Blind if it had a monkey ventriloquist and let the audience to participate in such bizarreness. Join Conti and her crazy monkey companion, along with some other felty friends, for her first visit back to the Tyne Theatre since 2016.
