36 years after the release of their last studio album, legendary County Durham punk rockers Penetration are returning to the studio to record a brand new album. The band will be joined by John Maher (known for his work with Buzzcocks and Invisible Girls) and assisted in the recording process by Fred Purser, guitarist on Penetration’s first two albums, Moving Targets and Coming Up For Air.

The new LP, which is due in late summer, is being funded through a Pledgemusic campaign. The band are offering fans the chance to pre-order the album for £13 and receive a Digipack CD when the LP is released, as well as updates on the album’s overall progress.

That’s not all they’re offering though; there’s an absolutely huge array of exclusive items on offer depending on how much you’d like to donate. £22 will net you a signed copy of the new CD, £44 gives you a signed coloured vinyl and a t-shirt, while £50 ensures that your name will be in the liner sheets and you’ll still get a signed CD.

There’s also some truly special items available for those who are willing to splash out a bit. £62 means you’ll receive a set of handwritten lyrics from iconic frontwoman Pauline Murray, while £77 means you’ll be sent a limited edition art print of Pauline entitled 1977 (Ferryhill). Originally painted by Stuckist artist and Penetration guitarist Paul Harvey, the beautiful print will be signed by both Pauline and Paul and is individually numbered.

The real gift, though, will be the LP itself. The band are excited about releasing the album and are curious to know what a Penetration album will sound like in 2015. Penetration’s Pledgemusic campaign is a chance for fans to get involved and be part of the band’s history, contributing to one of the most anticipated albums of the year.
