In the sixth and final stage focus for this year’s NARC. Fest, taking place across the Ouseburn Valley, Newcastle on Saturday 4th July, The Cluny and The Great Northern tell us about their line-up at The Cluny.

“2015 has started with a bang for Irish born trio, Good Friend, and they’re set to open The Cluny’s stage with a band too. With their punk ideologies, the trio have set about delivering their own brand of lion-hearted rock and roll.

Nano Kino are Sarah Suri and Duncan Lloyd (of Maximo Park and Decade In Exile fame). They came together to write in 2012 after meeting through a mutual friend and discovering a shared love for the Cocteau Twins and late 80’s house music. Recently, their songwriting has gathered momentum, creating partially biographic, part cryptic songs enhanced by Suri’s instinctive vocal delivery and Lloyd’s spacious guitars.

“This autumn sees Grandfather Birds release a collection of brand new music that many fans have wanted to hear since their DIY release of Spithope/Things Beneath The Water. Live, Grandfather Birds play honest and forthright, bringing an audience into their own territory of dream-like narrative and beautifully crafted atmospheric autumnal indie pop.

“A performance by our headliners Shields is characterised by their unmatched bright and colourful energy. The music they write is powerful and dynamic, consisting of layers of harmony, pounding rhythms, fuzzy guitars and shimmering synths.  Their debut album How Can We Fix This? is set to be released in October and they’re currently gearing up to play Glastonbury.

“There will also be DJ Sets from The Great Northern and The Cluny residents!”
