Is it just me or are we becoming increasingly spoilt for choice when it comes to amazing monthly club and gig nights in the region? The latest addition to the impressive roster is Monthly Ruins, the brainchild of fuzz lovers Cave Suns, which promises to bring a string of like-minded musicians together to create some blissful noise and get the crowd shaking along to the aural eminence.

The first instalment of Monthly Ruins sees Cave Suns themselves bring their psychedelic stoner blues to The Cluny. They’ve brought along a couple of friends for company too, though. Blown Out, comprised of members of Bong, Drunk In Hell and Haikai No Ku, are set to give dirty blues a spaced-out makeover. Joining them are early surf wax enthusiasts FRET! who promise to bring the almighty sound of FUCK-YEAH to the venue with their DIY throbbing and a lot of sweeping dischord. It’s a stellar lineup for the first in what should prove to be a long-standing series of immense gigs specializing in the weird and wonderful side of alt-rock.

Monthly Ruins 1 is at The Cluny, Newcastle on Tuesday 24th February.
