Members of The Broken Broadcast return and rebrand under the name Methodical Beast and release their brand new single, Daylight. It’s a track with a cinematic feel that captures your attention from its opening beat to the brief organ tone at the end of the song (that sounds like the track is going to go into Lucy In the Sky With Diamonds) and is available to listen via Spotify and all good streaming sites.

Lead singer and songwriter James Riggall’s soul-filled vocal soars over an ambling beat, lingering notes and a meandering guitar riff. It has a slightly rockier feel to the Broken Broadcast material however, like with his solo work and in the Broken Broadcast, James’ lyrics paint a very vivid landscape (in this instance of snowy mountains looking over a sprawling valley) to evoke the emotion the song is trying to get across.

James Riggall tells us more about the track and what’s next for the band.

“Having wrote some brand new songs with a different feel we decided to draw a line under the Broken Broadcast and embrace our new direction from a completely fresh perspective.

We tested the water with a couple of local gigs at Whirling Dervish in Boro, a charity show in Hartlepool and the gig at Head of Steam. After the feedback from those first gigs we felt buoyed into going back to the studio to begin recording what will be our debut single ‘Daylight’ which is about showing something to someone so they’ll realise their mistakes.

We’re playing the first Hartlepool Live on June 15th and a Ku Bar showcase with A Festival, A Parade on Friday 21st so we’re pushing the song out in between the shows.
