Reliably informed

The loveable Durham-dwelling melodic punk rockers Martha returned earlier this year with a brand new album, Love Keeps Kicking, which showcased the best of their spiky and heartfelt sound.

Being the positive and often politically-minded band they are, it seems serendipitous that their biggest headline show to date will take place on Thursday 31st October at Newcastle’s Riverside, as Britain bids a sad farewell to the EU (or not…does anyone even know at this point?). The band will be donating £1 to asylum charity Right To Remain for every person who attends in fancy dress, since it’s also Halloween.

Following 2014’s Courting Strong and 2016’s excellent Blisters In The Pit Of My Heart, Love Keeps Kicking is perhaps Martha’s best offering yet, from the infectious single Heart Is Healing and the shamelessly poppy brilliance of Into This, to the heartbreaking imagery of Brutalism By The River (Arrhythmia). So, rather than spending All Hallows Eve in front of the news with your head in your hands or watching Michael Myers sever the heads of over-sexed teenagers, why not join JC, Daniel, Naomi and Nathan for a night of good old DIY punk rock, and try to forget the world’s going to hell in a handcart.
