Hot off the back of various nods in end of year lists, County Durham quartet Martha will be taking their own unique blend of raucous pop-punk to Pop Recs Ltd. on Saturday 20th December.

Aforementioned debut album ‘Courting Strong’ provided an explosive beginning for the four Pity Me natives, catching the attention of many bloggers and tastemakers with its vivid portrayal of adolescence and beyond.

Having spent vast amounts of time this year touring, they’ve honed a sprightly and dynamic live show, whilst still exuding heart-on-sleeve warmth and soul. And that’s where Martha really come into their own and stand out as one of the most exciting North East acts of the year – their ability to teeter on the middle-ground between affecting and fun. There’s enough emotion in there to make them credible and enough jaunt in there to make them entertaining.

With all the column inches and rave reviews they’ve been receiving they’re destined for big things in 2015, so if I was you I’d grab the chance to see them in intimate surroundings whist you can. Bigger venues beckon.

Martha play with Protectors at Pop Recs, Sunderland on Saturday 20th December.
