Supporting the release of her new single, Newcastle’s highly regarded alt. blues/pop songwriter Martha Hill plays Middlesbrough’s Westgarth Social Club on Sunday 4th November.

Hill has been taking her time with her releases, honing her sound to produce something really special. In latest single Wallflower, husky vocals join stripped chords until the listener is awakened by the introduction of mechanical drum sounds and Hill’s vocal heights. The sound is gothic, differing from the almost sulky pop tone of previous release Spiders, married acoustic and synth-led sounds to marvellous effect. Wallflower is a clever track, with lyrics touching on conformity and social anxiety, and it’s sure to be unforgettable performed live.

Joining her at the Middlesbrough gig will be North Yorkshire musician George Boomsma, whose sound is at once unconventional and sophisticated. His song Streets Paved With Gold is an intricate beauty; teeming with lush instrumental accompaniment to his delicate, folky vocals. Additional support comes from Andrew Smith, whose combination of light chords and charismatic melodies is idyllic, with vocals guaranteed to charm.
