Music can be a real life changer for young people. It can provide opportunities, skills and experiences that can enrich their lives, as well as offering a creative outlet for what they are feeling. Two of the biggest names in the Newcastles’s music scene have come together to offer a platform to the city’s up-and-coming artists and are asking for your help to fund it.

Loft Music Studios is working in collaboration with City Youth Music to create Magnetik, a compilation album of some of the North East’s best up-and-coming musical talents. It’s a project aiming to fund, produce and promote the best music the region has to offer whilst giving the young people of City Youth Music the opportunity to come up through the Newcastle music scene with the mentoring of Loft Music Studios.

The compilation will feature the city’s best and brightest including Jango Flash, Kay Greyson, Sarah Connolly, Sleeptape, Club Paradise, NATO, Tom Mouse Smith, and SWEETS feat. Lauren Amour of San Junipero. In keeping with the promoting local talent theme, the artwork (to be unveiled soon) will also be created by a local artist.

City Youth Music are a non-profit, Newcastle based organisation that create opportunities for talented young musicians as well as introducing others to various music projects. However, this can be costly which is why City Youth Music relies upon such projects as Magnetik to offer youngsters help and advice from an established musical institution as Loft Music Studios.

It’s a project that Jack Golightly a.k.a Jango Flash sees as being important, “I think it’s extremely valuable to nurture and support young people and help them realise their creativity. If kids are given the opportunity to channel their own ideas through events and funding provided by City Youth, it could be life changing for them. I’m fully in support of the dedicated and selfless team at Magnetik for forming a partnership with City Youth, and I’m honoured to be a part of the programme.”
