Reliably informed

It’s been almost two years since Fat White Family issued that insane – not to mention completely misjudged – threat to move to Syria and join Isis if Mac DeMarco continued to make music.

By way of response, Canada’s very own Slack-Rock god – or ‘Ape Dinky’, as he prefers – has remained hard at work, and, in the last eighteen months, releasing not just a well-received full-length, but an EP, mini-LP and compilation album as well.

On Tuesday August 29th, he’ll be rocking the stage at Newcastle’s O2 Academy in support of his latest charmingly oddball project, This Old Dog (plus extras, obviously), and if this live review is anything to go by, then “truss mi daddy” – as the kids say these days – you don’t wanna miss it!

If for nothing else, you’ll get to see for yourself why the self-styled ‘Pepperoni Playboy’ is a regular fixture on those excellently curated year-end best-of lists from the good folks at NME and Rough Trade.

Now, if someone could kindly let Lias, Saul and the rest of the FWF gang know that I’m still waiting on that postcard from Syria, that’d be awesome.
