Hot on the heels of the release of his new album A Golden State, beguiling songwriter Luke Sital-Singh performs at Newcastle’s Cluny 2 on Sunday 14th April.
For the new album Luke once again teamed up with producer Tommy McLaughlin (Villagers, Soak), who was also responsible for 2017’s lush release Time Is A Riddle. Recorded at Portland’s Jackpot Studios – famously set up by Elliott Smith, where alumni include R.E.M., Stephen Malkmus, and The Decemberists – the album contains references to the musician’s recent move to Los Angeles with his wife, illustrator Hannah Cousins.
“Hannah’s wanted to move to LA for years but I’m not much of an adventurer, I’m a worrier and a pessimist,” he says of recent single, Los Angeles. “But I do need something new. And writing the song crystallized my enthusiasm for moving there. It’s probably the most honest and open song on the album.”
Elsewhere on the release, plaintive track The Last Day demonstrates Luke’s innate ability to produce fragile and personal songs which speak directly to the listener, conveyed with sparse accompaniment lending an intimate atmosphere. The Cluny 2 will be the perfect venue for Luke’s beautiful sound.
