English singer-songwriter Lucy Rose released her sophomore record Work It Out in July of this year, the follow-up to 2012’s debut Like I Used To, and she will be headlining a show at Newcastle Riverside on Thursday 12th November as part of a nationwide UK tour to promote it.

Having collaborated with Bombay Bicycle Club frontman Jack Steadman on an acoustic record entitled Flaws, and performed backing vocals for the Manic Street Preachers, Lucy Rose is very much in demand, and two tours with Platinum selling American act Counting Crows has honed her live act.  Rose has already headlined in Newcastle this year with a show at Think Tank?, and Lucy is a talent that is on the rise as the success of Work It Out has proven.

Finding the perfect blend of folk introspection and pop sensibilities, Rose sounds more confident with a full band behind her, and it has produced a more accessible sound than on the more stripped-down Work It Out.  For You is a brilliant opener and sets the tone, building a momentum that is never lost throughout the record.  Our Eyes and Koln will get everyone moving whilst She’ll Move is reminiscent of The XX.  Lucy is planning on taking her record on a world tour, but one with a difference: she’s taking invites from her fans  on social media in far flung places like Brazil, Uruguay and Chile seriously and promises to pack her acoustic guitar and fund her own trips to perform wherever hers fans can find her to a space to play; be it a park, a book shop or their own living room.  It’s a wonderful idea but her fans in the North East need only to get down to the Riverside to enjoy her live show.

Lucy Rose plays Riverside, Newcastle on Thursday 12th November.
