Little Shop of Horrors is a smashing film, and it would be great to see it again, sure… but we’ve all seen it, so how about something different?

What Leon Radojkovic and Oliver Driver are attempting to do is barely conceivable, but I’ll try to explain… The film will be playing on a giant screen behind four musicians and actors who will re-voice every word in perfect lip sync. That’s not all. They will be rushing around the stage creating the sound effects and playing a completely new score composed by Radojkovic. Let that sink in for a moment. Four people, an entire film with a huge cast, each of whom has a different sounding voice, a brand new musical score, sound effects…the mind boggles. I think this will have to go in the “has to be seen to be believed” category.

As director Driver puts it “the danger levels have been increased,” because previous Live Live Cinema productions have included a full cast, full orchestra and dedicated sound effects guy. I can’t quite stress enough how incredibly insane this project is – insane but brilliant, that is. I can’t wait to see if they manage it. Feed me Seymour…

Live Live Cinema comes to the Sage Gateshead on Tuesday 23rd June.
