The latest feast of thespian treats from Live Theatre comes in the form of the Live Lab Elevator. Running from Tuesday 9th until Saturday 13th February and celebrating top new talent, Elevator features two double-bills and a plethora of events and workshops.

First up on Wednesday 10th and Friday 12th is Red Is The New Blue, a tale of Martian exile in the name of reality TV, which is performed alongside Heartbeats & Algorithms, a solo comedy show by Jenny Lee which investigates how computers rule our lives.

The second double-bill takes place on Thursday 11th and includes Lists For The End Of The World by fanSHEN, which uses material collected from North East natives to form lists of everyday life; unpredictable and bespoke, this could be funny, sad, deep or flippant depending on what we reckon is important. Completing the line-up will be Amy Golding’s work-in-progress show entitled preggers, which explores what it means to become a mother. Covering the experiences of pregnancy over the ages the show will be both playful and political.

Included in the workshops programme is a director’s masterclass (Saturday 13th) featuring tips and advice from Rachel O’Riorden and Joe Murphy; a panel discussion for playwrights which features Game of Thrones actor Luke Barnes and Channel 4 playwright in residence Laura Lomas among others, plus a devised theatre workshop with fanSHEN, both on Tuesday 9th February.

Live Lab Elevator takes place at Live Theatre, Newcastle from Tuesday 9th until Saturday 13th February.
