Halfway between Edinburgh and Newcastle, a hop from the hot sleepers of the East Coast mainline and a mere skip from the toiling tarmac of the A1 is where you’ll find it. Hidden by rolling verdant Northumbrian hills, flecked by salty fret from the North Sea and (we’re assured) sure to be flat-out basking in sunshine this year, it’s Lindisfarne Festival 2018.

Coming back for year three from Thursday 30th August until Sunday 2nd September, one of the best-kept secrets in the country returns with over 150-plus acts spread across nine unique stages. Friday and Saturday night headliners are Madchester scenesters Happy Mondays and Brighton folk-punkers The Levellers respectively, with the main stages also playing host to the likes of The Showhawk Duo, Dub Pistols, Ferocious Dog, Skinny Lister, Holy Moly and the Crackers, Mad Dog McCrea, Social Room, Hip Hop Hooray, Detroit Social Club, Tom ‘Mouse’ Smith, Hayley McKay, Dansi, Hati, The King Bees, Martha Hill, The Whippet Beans, We Tibetans and many more, all backed by live comedy, indie discos and DJ’s ‘til 4am.

Much, much more than a mere music festival, Lindisfarne offers plenty to satiate every soul with areas dedicated to offering yoga, meditation, holistic therapies and alternative wellbeing activities, complimented throughout by all manner of right-on workshops and sweet stalls finely-tuned for a late summer woke vibe.
Boasting glamping, bonfires and fire shows, street performers, abundant street food and essential chill out zones for those finding themselves between lituations, the festival also supports Musicians Against Homelessness, has a great green policy and is just all-round super-friendly, inclusive and a real gem of a thing. Do it, love it, support it. Don’t tell anyone about it.
