Reliably informed

After spending nearly two years perfecting their harmony-heavy sound, Mackem wonders Lilliput are back with some brand new tunes, which you may well get a sneaky peek of at their show at Sunderland’s Independent. It’s exciting stuff, as their EP Who Knows Where the Time Goes was well worth the wait when it came out; a seven-track near-mini-album designed to listen to in its entirety, it was a perfectly pitched blend of classic folk pop with some unusually baroque melodies. Entirely self-funded, the EP saw the band taking an old fashioned approach that punctuated their modern sound. Known for being beautifully clinical, but hardly sterile, live, the band’s return to the live stage is hotly anticipated.

They’re backed by Newcastle six-piece kosoti, whose single Bark + Sticks was released towards the end of 2014 to great acclaim. Their blend of folk rock and pop has seen them gain legions of fans, as they’ve headlined a number of sell out shows across the region. Rounding off the bill are rising indie-four piece Far Pacific. If you’re a fan of intelligent, thoroughly modern indie then this is unmissable.

Lilliput play at Sunderland’s Independent on Thursday 12th March.
