Reliably informed

Our 10th birthday celebrations continue this weekend, with two performances from the inimitable Kathryn Williams at one of Newcastle’s most beautiful venues, The Mining Institute.
The first gig, on Friday 29th April, featuring Richard Dawson and Astrid Williamson has sold out, but there’s another chance to catch a trio of astonishing songwriters on Saturday 30th April instead. Lucky you!
As part of an intimate solo tour, Mercury-nominated songwriter Kathryn Williams will perform songs from her incredible new album, Hypoxia. Inspired by the writing of Sylvia Plath, Kathryn’s creation is nothing short of captivating; containing songs which are in turns deliciously dark, heart-stoppingly beautiful and quietly affecting, this special appearance at one of Newcastle’s most beautiful venues will be a unique and unmissable performance.

Ditte Elly
Having recently released her debut album, Ditte’s music is utterly beguiling. With a style which resides somewhere between Nick Drake and Joanna Newsom, Ditte’s wonderfully textured tones and subtle melodies regularly leave audiences awestruck.

Shetland-born musician and songwriter Astrid Williamson was the founder of John Cale-produced indie band Goya Dress, her ambient pop solo material is by turns ethereal and emotive.
