Moving away from their traditional Durham barn-based Jamboree and towards a more countrified vibe, Jumpin’ Hot Club’s annual do is a typically splendid affair. Taking place at Acklington Village Hall near Amble on the spectacular Northumberland coast on Saturday 6th August, the veteran promoters have pulled together a line-up of rockabilly, country, Geordie swing and roots-driven folk that’ll please fans new and old alike.

A ragtag bunch of performers will be Northumberland-bound, with highlights of the all-day gig including folk raconteur Nev Clay; Texan songwriter Brennan Leigh, who will be paying tribute to country music hero Lefty Frizzell; New Rope String Band’s Tim Dalling; rootsy folk musician Kari Macloud brings her band, The Fugitives to the show; it wouldn’t be a party without Geordie swingers Shipcote & Friends; plus there’s a songwriters circle featuring the supreme talents of a quartet of superb songwriters – Bridie Jackson and Archie Brown top the North East contingent, alongside Vera Van Heeringen’s Dutch bluegrass and Texan treats Noel McKay.

Taking the headlining spot is well respected songwriter Martin Stephenson, who presents his Toe Rags band for a special one-off show. Expect old-time rockabilly fun, with no doubt a handful of Daintees tracks thrown in for good measure. Always a genuine delight live, they’ll provide a fitting end to what promises to be a cracking good day.

Add to all this, street food courtesy of La Fiesta, alcoholic fun from Hadrian Border Brewery, and for those who can’t face the bus journey home, there’s camping space nearby too.
