Jim Jones has closed down The Revue and will be opening up his Righteous Mind when he comes to Newcastle’s Cluny with his new outfit on Monday 4th April. New EP Aldecide, released at the beginning of the month, promises to turn heads with a much darker and more experimental take on the more traditional rock ‘n’ roll fare that we’ve been used to.

Last year’s singles, and the videos that accompanied them, were full of claustrophobic, nightmarish imagery and fomented a current of menacing unease that may come as a shock to those who expected more of the same ramalama-ding-donging that Jones has been associated with in the past; one minute sounding like he’s being put under anaesthesia at the Grand Ol’ Opry and the next as if he’s fending off angry wasps with a chainsaw.

Having worked with some of the biggest names in roots and Americana, the chance to see the latest stage in Jim Jones’ evolution shouldn’t be missed, as the live performance will be full of the craft and intensity that you’d expect from a musician and artist at the top of his game.

Jim Jones & The Righteous Mind play The Cluny, Newcastle on Monday 4th April.
