There are few monthly nights that pull along a following as loyal as Jibba Jibba. The spoken word night (with a bit of music and comedy thrown in too), has been a mainstay of the North East culture scene for a long time, with the next instalment stacked with more creative talent, and coming to The Cumberland Arms on Thursday 24th March.

This month sees the show headlined by internationally renowned poet Jean ‘Binta’ Breeze MBE, her words carrying powerful political and personal statements. She’s joined by one-liner comedian Julian Lee, the beautiful hang drums of Simon Wood and readings from his new book courtesy of Tom Kelly. With the whole evening hosted as ever by Jibba Jabba founder, the talented and charming poet Jenni Pascoe, the night is sure to be a lot of fun while still being filled with heartfelt musings.

The night will also feature its customary open mic sections for members of the audience to try out anything a bit wordy; poetry, comedy, song, prose, rap, anything goes really and often does. Jibba Jabba is a night that has some tremendous, hand-picked creative talents every month that always deliver, whether it be a smile, a laugh, a tear, or just something truly heart-warming, it’s hard not to take something away from the wonderful wordsmiths on show.

Jibba Jabba returns to The Cumberland Arms, Newcastle on Thursday 24th March.
