Sometimes life throws little changes our way that ended up working much for the best. A last minute change to Canadian songstress Jenny Ritter’s Newcastle show sees her moving to Heaton Perk from Cumberland Arms, and this quaint, cosy setting could a perfect fit for her delectable brand of Americana. She brings her band with her to the Heaton cafe on Thursday 28th January.

Promoters The Tea Pad Presents (the promotion and events wing of Rob Heron and The Tea Pad Orchestra) have pulled off a major coup bringing this wonderful songwriter to our area. With her second album Raised By Wolves released late last year, the songs she’ll be showcasing feature subtle yet beautiful banjo playing which allows a delicate, honest voice to shine. There’s a traditional country swagger and folksy flavour underneath something a lot more modern, but it’s really the sincerity with which she sings that grabs you; delivering clever, heartfelt lyrics at the core of every track. With an even more intimate venue now hosting the show too, a wintery January evening in the company of such gorgeous songs is surely something that’s very hard to turn down.
