Rockabilly revivalist and Jools Holland favourite Imelda May is coming to the Sage Gateshead on Thursday 27th November. The unique Irish performer is currently touring in support of her second album Tribal, a primal rock ‘n’ roll record which reached number three on the UK album charts and number one in her home country.

With an image firmly rooted in 1950s pin-ups and burlesque idols, May’s bourbon-soaked vocals have a reputation for being as powerful live as they are on record. Her blend of rockabilly and country gospel reach an intense fever point in a live setting.

May will be expected to give her latest LP a ferocious airing on the night, as well as giving tunes from her first album Mayhem a twist. Always a raucous, blistering performer, May is an unmissable prospect.
