Heavy alternative rock trio Ilser finally unleash their debut EP this month. After assaulting the ears of the great North East gig-going public over the last couple of years, they’ve yet to cement their growing reputation as a solid live act with a long playing release. Their new EP, entitled Reverie, will be launched at a gig at Newcastle’s Little Buildings on Sunday 24th April, itself a venue fast becoming the ‘go-to’ location for high quality noisy gigs.

The band produced the EP themselves, holing up in Cornwall at the end of 2015, with vocalist and guitarist Rachael taking the helm. “It was really refreshing to have the time to experiment in terms of adding/taking away features of the tracks as we went.” She commented. “No studio budgets to juggle meant we had time to really mess around with recording techniques.”

The self-proclaimed “rough and ready” release is led by the rip-roaring track, LJ. Some brutal riffs give the song its backbone, a howling vocal is distorted and twisted around the chugging guitars and shouted refrains. There’s hardly a second of respite, as the track throws out discordant rhythms, squealing warped solos and a pleasingly down tempo outro. Fans will be pleased to note that the band’s live reputation comes across exceedingly well on record, with the release capable of capturing the band’s raw power. Grab a very limited physical copy of the EP and catch them in all their noisy glory at the Little Buildings launch alongside shoegaze rockers Old Prides, the mysterious Bangkok Chickboys and Mancunian grunge trio False Advertising.
